Binkle is my first bird, and it wasn't hard for us to choose him! He wasn't very 'chirpy' at first at all, we even called the pet store and asked about this, he was just nervous, he definantly came around with that chirp though! And he can get LOUD when he wants to. He is an 'only-bird' and he's happy. He's Got us, his "flock" and he 'talks' to his birdie buddies through the window! He enjoys entertaining himself with his toys and bells and he loves to practice his "Talking" and whisles in the mirror to himself. Some of his favorite exersices are the phone, dialing, and his loud (LOUD) whistle that he practices most of the time!

Here's a little advice on taming your keet:

Taming Should begin no sooner than 2 weeks after bringing your new keet home.

*Don't let your parakeet out or put your hands in its cage.

*Read "Cages" on the left about picking a great cage with a tray to change their liners.

*After at least 2 weeks, get a pencil or a small perch for them to perch on, open the cage door, and hold it up to them, it's probably best not to go in there with gloves or a net, Make sure there is nothing that will hurt them in the room, an open window, sharp objects, etc.
tell them up and wait until they get on, then take them out for a get around. Put them back the same way after a while, do this for about 5 days then try to get them to get on your finger, come at them from below, never hover your hand over them, especially at first. If they bite you, just tip your finger a little, not too much just enough to get their attention.
Just keep doing this and talk sweetly to them at all times.
